What Are The Side Effects Of Botox®Botox Toronto and Botox Mississauga Patients can view the best and most detailed discussion of the side effects of Botox in the official drug monograph at http://www.allergan.ca/assets/pdf/ca_botox_cosm_pm.pdf Botox® has been used in medical treatment for over 20 years. There is a high satisfaction rate amongst patients treated at our clinics. Botox has been used safely without significant side effects for many different clinical indications in large numbers of patients over many years world wide. Having said that there are potential side effects that patients should be aware of, and it is therefore reccommended that patients only undergo treatment with Botox when administered by a properly trained medical practitioner with lots of experience using Botox. Mississauga and Toronto patients should be aware that Botox treatment can cause minor bleeding , bruising or swelling. For this reason is it advisable to avoid medications that can thin the blood and predispose to bleeding prior to injection if possible. Ask your physician which medications can or should be discontinued prior to your treatment. Botox can be associated with unintended specific localized muscle weakness, so for example it is possible to suffer a drooping brow or lid. With proper treatment technique this side effect is infrequent, and usually mild and transient. If the lid is affected there is an eyedrop medication that can be used to alleviate the symptom while one is waiting for it to resolve. Allergic reactions are possible to any medication, and should be brought to medical attention. If you have multiple medication allergies or egg allergy bring this to the attention of our staff prior to treatment. Rare cases of remote effects of Botox, affecting areas distant to the are of treatment have been reported on occasion, and though this has occurred mostly with use of Botox Therapeutic, it is still an important potential side effect that those using Botox Cosmetic should be aware of. This and all other potential issues regarding side effects will be discussed in detail with you at your consultation.
